The spooks at Langley put out this nice bar graph, showing China’s meteoric economic rise, while surpassing the US as the world’s biggest economy. Jeff, thanks for a fascinating read. This might sound a bit off the wall, but not a lot!
I am a European living and working in S. Korea and have heard from a trusted source recently that the recent ‘earthquakes’ here (minor, but strong, nevertheless) were ‘created’ as a warning to the S. Korean government to desist in their attempts at normalizing relations with China/N. Korea/Japan, which have, apparently, been underway with quieter, shall we say, factions of each government in recent months.
S. Korea is facing a huge demographic shift in the coming decades and good trade/cultural ties with their neighbours are going to be essential; rather than acting out their present role as client state puppets to ‘we-know-who.’ Hence the ‘quakes’ – in areas that have NEVER had ‘quakes. Ever. Now there have been 3/4 in just over a week!
Coincidence? A freak of nature? (Well, a freak, maybe – but not one of nature.)

Hi Jimbo. Thanks for reading. Geoengineering is a fascinating topic, creating or changing the weather as a way to attack one’s enemies. The CIA claims it was able to cause flash flooding on the Ho Chi Minh Trail, during the Vietnam War. China says it can cause rain to fall. And we all know about the thousands of earthquakes happening wherever there is oil/gas fracking. So no, it think there must be some truth to it, especially when you read about HAARP, etc.
As I have written elsewhere, South Korea is still a repressive police state, only visibly evolved from its long, fascist past. So, the entire governmental structure is full of these commie and Japan hating nationalists who never want the war with North Korea/China to end.
I am biased, of course. But I call China “The Greatest Show on Earth” for a reason. A post-doc here sounds like just the ticket!
